Abiola is a Canadian Education Consultant and Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant. She has law degrees from the University of Lagos in Nigeria and the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.

After working as a corporate lawyer in Nigeria for over 25 years, Abiola moved to Canada in 2003 where she studied Canadian immigration law and policy at the University of British Columbia and Seneca College. Abiola worked as Strategic Legal Consultant with a leading business and immigration law firm in Vancouver, Canada, gaining exposure and practical experience under the tutelage of an experienced Canadian lawyer.

Abiola has extensive experience and expertise with foreign students and graduates, skilled workers and high net-worth individuals seeking to study, work and immigrate to Canada since 2005. As an immigrant to Canada herself, she believes that Canada is a land of opportunity and endless possibilities and she is passionate about sharing this information and her expertise with those who may benefit from it.

Abiola is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Law Society of England & Wales and the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council.

Legal Experience

  • 3 decades of business transaction experience, representing and advising national and international clients on business formation, organization and operation.
  • Experienced in managing government relations, securing regulatory approvals, and overseeing closings.
  • Skilled in understanding complex legal issues and in developing and recommending appropriate legal solutions.

 

Major Legal Assignments

  • Provided legal advice to a multinational company with French shareholders involved in turnkey construction projects in the energy sector in Nigeria.
  • Provided legal advice to a multinational company with Swiss shareholders providing catering & logistics services to the aviation industry in Nigeria.
  • Provided legal advice to a multinational petroleum trading company with its parent company based in the United Kingdom.
  • Provided legal advice to a joint venture company between Nigerian and Swedish nationals providing aviation security services in Nigeria.
  • Provided legal advice to British & Ugandan promoters of a Nigerian telecommunication company.
  • Provided legal advice for over a decade to a British airline operating in Nigeria. Responsible for negotiating the leases for the acquisition of its head office and managed the sale and/or lease of its major real estate holdings in Nigeria.
  • Served as legal counsel to a Canadian firm in its Canada-Nigeria joint venture: negotiated and documented the acquisition of majority stake in the company, the shareholders agreement, the technical management agreement and a 15 million dollar supply contract.

 

Consulting Experience

  • Business Development Officer/Strategic Legal Consultant to Canadian business & immigration law firm, Lowe & Company.
  • Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant providing personal and business immigration advice to skilled workers, entrepreneurs and investors.
  • Chief Executive Officer of Access Nigeria Consulting Inc, Canadian consulting firm involved in trade and investment promotion activities between Nigeria & Canada. Clients and/or collaborators included the Canadian government’s Department of Foreign Affairs & International Trade, the Government of the Province of Alberta, the Canadian Council on Africa, the Canadian Deputy High Commission in Nigeria, the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission and the Nigeria High Commission in Canada.
  • Researcher/on-call Consultant to American firm on several research and market landscaping studies in Nigeria.
  • Co-ordinator, Trade Missions between Nigeria & Canada.
  • Speaker at international seminars promoting Nigeria as a preferred destination for foreign trade and investment.

 

Honours and Awards

  • Federal Government of Nigeria Merit Award for academic excellence at the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
  • Best student in graduating set (June 1981) from the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, Nigeria.
  • Chief Theophilus Shobowale Benson prize (second place) for the best overall performance at the Bar Final Examination held in May 1982.
  • International Federation of Women Lawyers prize for the best performing female student at the Bar Final Examination held in May 1982.
  • Cambridge Commonwealth Scholarship Award for students of outstanding academic merit at the University of Cambridge.

  • Executive Director, The International Learning Network – providing Canadian high school education to Nigerian students through a partnership with Virtual High School, Ontario.
  • Chief Executive Officer, Morgan Consultancy Services – providing education, immigration and business consulting services to Nigerian & Canadian nationals/businesses.
  • Principal, Abiola Morgan & Associates Legal Practitioners – providing, among other legal services, legal advice on Nigerian market enrty & foreign investment in Nigeria.
  • Member, Board of Trustees, Nigerian Canadian Business Association (NCBA) – bilateral Chamber of Commerce between Nigeria and Canada.
